Saturday 6 October 11:00 – 19:00
Sunday 7 October 11:00 – 18:00
Ethiopian gallery Addis Fine Art will be presenting a solo exhibition of Addis Gezehagn at the fair. Addis Gezehagn finds his artistic inspiration in his native city, Addis Ababa, focusing on documenting its changing urban landscape. Over the years, he has adopted an increasingly minimalist approach, rendering entire cityscapes as flattened systems of overlapping chromatic doors and gates. Gezehagn’s dream-like and deconstructed works blur the boundaries of fantasy and the reality of urban life.
1-54 London returns for its sixth edition at Somerset House between the 4-7 October 2018.
The fair will welcome 43 leading galleries from countries across Africa, Europe, the Middle East and North America, presenting over 130 artists from Africa and its diaspora. This edition will be accompanied by a compelling series of Special Projects and FORUM, the fair’s talks programme, curated for the first time by writer and curator Ekow Eshun.
1:54 is a platform for galleries, artists, curators, art centres and museums involved in African and Africa related projects and aims to promote art by established and emerging talents amongst an international audience.
