22nd Society of Ethiopians Established in Diaspora Award

The Society of Ethiopians Established in Diaspora (SEED) gives a platform to Ethiopians and Ethiopian friends who have shown outstanding achievements. and are role models within their community from among the world of educators, scientists, artists, religious leaders, high school and university students and community leaders without any preference for education and career category. This years annual award show The SEED 2014 Awards Banquet takes place on Sunday 25th May 2014. The award has been running for 21 years since the organization formed back in 1993, when it first started out with 2 nominees.

Below are some of the 2014 Honorees, such as Dr. Aklilu’s whose hard work, defying all odds has continued to help others in her community,  "as an exemplary role model to all humanity and for all of her inspiring accomplishments". 

Ambassador Zewde Retta for recognition of his lifetime achievements, as a venerated teacher, "his unselfish devotion to the preservation of our true history through his prolific writings, unfading interest and love of country".

And Dr. Belay Abegaz best known for his “Brain Child” - The children’s Heart Fund of Ethiopia (CHFE). For over thirty years he has been instrumental in sending more than 2200 children, to the USA, Europe, Israel and India. Abegaz is being honored "in appreciation of the rich and positive contributions and pioneering cardio-care for children, his inspiring academic and scientific excellence and as role model to the Diaspora Ethiopians and Ethiopians everywhere'.
