The world of development is waking up to the immense impact the diaspora is having on the development of Africa. Join us to discuss and celebrate this role, its past, present and future: sharing insights as well as learning from development practitioners representing worldwide diasporas as well as the wider development sector.
Looking at remittances and beyond, we'll be examining how diaspora leaders, entrepreneurs, philanthropists and volunteers are helping shape the future of Africa. If you're part of a diaspora organisation, we're looking at how you can become more sustainable, advocate more effectively, and how you can harness diplomatic missions to support your work.
The Common Ground Initiative was founded on the belief that the African diaspora have an important role to play in the future of their continent of origin, using their distinctive insights, passion and knowledge to make an impact in international development. As the culmination of the first phase of our work, we hope you can join us as we bring together some of the most significant figures in diaspora development as well as ambassadors, MPs and others to reflect on the diaspora’s impact to date and look at how its role might change in the future.
The keynote address will be delivered by Rt Hon Justine Greening MP, Secretary of State for International Development.
