The Africa World Documentary Film Festival 2014 runs from March to October. The Film Festival will be shown at venues across Saint Louis, Missouri, USA; Lawrence, Kansas, USA; Birmingham, Alabama, USA; Bridgetown, Barbados; Yaounde, Cameroon; Ibadan, Nigeria & London, UK between March 6 – October 5 2014.
2014 is the seventh season, which will be showcasing 29 films by filmmakers from Australia, Bolivia, Canada, Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Denmark, Ethiopia, Gabon, Germany, Ghana, Grenada, Italy, Jamaica, Mali, Mozambique, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Portugal, Rwanda, Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic, South Africa, Tanzania, United Kingdom, Uganda, USA and Zimbabwe. Covering subjects from Culture, Socio-Economic, Environment, History, Gender, Legal, Music & performing Arts, Religion, Politics, Sport as well as Human Rights issues.
Documentaries from Ethiopia have been Asni, The Life of Asnaketch Worku by Rachel Samuel, Freedom (Natsanat) by Cheryl Halpern (Ethiopia, USA) and Man Up and Go by Randy Bacon (USA, Ethiopia, Uganda).
The next screening dates are:
Bellville, South Africa - July 28-August 2, 2014;
London, UK – August 30-September 9, 2014;
Kingston, Jamaica – October 2-5, 2014.
