Once a month the Association of Women in Business AWiB hold their monthly networking event. This July is their event to showcase their AWiBers - the Bold and the Beautiful! This month they present three magnificent women.
All these three Gems have plenty of lessons and laughter to share with us.

Netsehet Workneh, Managing Director of LonAdd Consultancy
Netsehet came back from London to partake in the business development of Ethiopia and to contribute her part in the robust economy Ethiopia has had in the past decade and a half. She co-founded LonAdd Consultancy Plc, an HR Service provider based in Addis Ababa, offering a wide range of services, including Recruitment, Outsourcing, Training and HR consultancy. LonAdd Consultancy was established in March 2009 and has celebrated this year its 10th year anniversary– a story of ambition, precision, passion, reliability and integrity. LonAdd’s Vision is to be the leading and most reliable HR service provider in Ethiopia.
This energetic woman seems to have 25 hours a day. She is a philanthropist, a competitive runner, a well-respected business leader and has more time to fulfill most of her social obligations. Her 2nd home, however, is a gym…one can bet to find this well-fit person at 5 AM in the morning greeting her day on treadmill or on one of the several machines any well-equipped gym affords. She even has the stamina to train with the best trainer in town….humming her mornings away.
Netsehet joined AWiB in 2013 and has been an invaluable member, an unfading supporter and an avid advocate of AWiB. She is also a member of Female CEO Breakfast Club (FCBC) that was founded under the auspices of AWiB in January 2017.
Netsehet is blessed with an enviable married life and has two children– a boy and a girl.
Sara Tadiwos, Founder and Managing Director, iCAN-International Career Advisory Network.
Sara Tadiwos is a dynamic leader, change maker and entrepreneur who likes to involve herself in sustainability and impact driven development fields and businesses such as youth employment, women leadership, entrepreneurship development, workforce/human capital development, refugee settlement and strategic reentry programs and career coaching.
Sara is the Founder and Managing Director Of iCAN-International Career Advisory Network. iCAN envisions stable youth and workforce that can develop self and contribute to the overall economic development of the country by providing employment solutions, career advisory, comprehensive and quality workforce development services to job seekers and for companies by providing a competitive and skilled workforce to grow their business through talent acquisition and recruitment/ strategies. She is a Certified National Workforce Development Professional (NCWDP), Certified Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF) and Certified Northern Virginia Workforce Development professional (NVWDP). Sara earned her MA (MPHIL) from University of Bergen, Norway, in International Development & BA in Sociology Addis Ababa University.
Sara’s dream is, as a youthful country, for Ethiopia to leverage the youth workforce to great use and that creative, innovative and basic employment skills-based programs are created in every community to support the close to 70% youth population.
Sara served as an Executive and advisory board member for Association of Women in Business (AWIB) for two years and currently serving as a workforce development facilitator for AWIB members and career coach to disadvantaged youth fresh graduates. She is also part of the Diaspora Rise-up campaign to raise funds in response to emerging humanitarian crises in Africa.
Semhal Guesh, Entrepreneur
Semhal Guesh is a Founder & CEO of Kabana Leather, a startup company that produces a wide variety of handmade leather products. Conquering the many challenges she faced in the leather business, Semhal succeeded in starting and efficiently operating Kabana Leather. Kabana Leather is one of the leading leather products companies in Ethiopia. Equally her passion of becoming a transformative leader and empowering women economically, she strides to build a large manufacturing company that fulfils her dream. Her work through Kabana enables her to reach the community by training women and internally displaced people in hope to transform lives for a sustainable change.
Semhal is an architect by training and uses this useful discipline to enhance her designs in the leather fashion industry. Her many talents include Arkystk Events Plc, a meeting planning company that focusing on conference tourism. Arkystk Events mission is to focus on attracting those investors whose primary interest is the leather industry. This, she believes, will greatly develop the Nation’s Leather Industry and increases the talent pool. Her effort shows in the increased demand for the Ethiopian abundant leather supply on international hearts and minds.
Semhal’s ultimate goal is to be successful in realizing her dream of contributing immensely to the leather industry that with proper quality control mechanism and higher productivity will contribute significantly to the Nation’s GDP which will complement Ethiopia’s poverty alleviation agenda to become middle-income country in 2025. As a young successful entrepreneur Semhal aims to be a role model for many young women to follow her footsteps.
As a vehicle to contribute to the empowerment of women, she has joined the Association of Women in Business (AWiB), a networking platform that connects those women with ambition to realize their potential. Semhal serves on its board. What draws Semhal to AWiB is that her passion as an entrepreneur also seamlessly aligns with AWiB’s vision. AWiB is uniquely positioned in the community to make a positive impact by bringing a lasting change in a woman’s life. This perspective and outlook, Semhal finds it important to sustains her commitment to AWiB indefinitely.
