Balemayet Wist Mayet - The Beauty of Seeing that Lies Within Blindness is an exhibition of experimental artworks made by eleven visually impaired people from different walks of life. They chose the title Balemayet Wist Mayet referring to the beauty of seeing that lies within blindness. The group had attended a workshop organized by Together (a non-profit organization based in Addis Ababa) and conducted by Minas Girma and Barbara Nascimbeni in March 2014. The exhibition has been curated by Asni Gallery founder and owner Konjit Seyoun
If you lost your sight would you still be seeing? Just because you see does that mean you always see? And just because you are blind does that mean you never see? What about vision? Isn’t it something shared both by the blind and the seeing? And views? The seeing has a view so does the blind. And what is in-sight?
