Join the campaign and PLEDGE to support the bold sophomore album by Ethiopian pop heavyweights, Debo Band.
Debo Band will be self-producing their sophomore album, which will feature original songs along with Ethiopian traditional medleys, unique covers, and wild mashups that push the limits of our band’s sound!
As they gear up for a recording session later this year, they will be going into the studio with the full twelve-piece, lineup, ripping into a new set of music that expands upon their signature music of Ethiopian pop music, connecting dots between Addis Ababa, Boston and beyond with the re-visioning of a piece from Duke Ellington’s Far East Suite, a popular folk song from Okinawa, and a funk classic by Somalia’s Dur Dur Band; all these have been set to Amharic lyrics by the charismatic front-man, Bruck Tesfaye.
Recording will take place at Machines With Magnets, in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, where Deboband recorded their critically-acclaimed 2012 debut album self titled ablum for Sub Pop Records.
