Jade Doreen Waller, an innovative young artist from Cape Town, is creating a stir in the art industry with her unique approach to Urban Contemporary art. After Waller's highly successful first solo exhibition 'Between Ourselves', the artist is back with her much anticipated second show, 'Overload'.
Deeply rooted in Urban Contemporary subculture, Waller's work is symptomatic of an information overload, as well as a mirror of our frenetic existence.
'Overload' is electrically charged, crammed and unedited. Each painting forces a package of incongruent visual data that not only reflects Waller's thought processes but also speaks to the randomness and excess contained within our urban visual culture. The bizarre juxtaposition of objects in unexpected arrangements, their realist execution with their sugared-up yet metallic use of colour create artworks that speak to the discourse of Pop Surrealism.
