The 12th London African Music Festival presents Mamani Keita. LONDON DEBUT for Paris-based Mamani Keita, a brilliant singer and musician from Mali.
Electro Bamako. She was raised speaking Bambara. Mamani Keita has collaborated with Dee Dee Bridgewater, Hank Jones, Eric Legnini, Tama, Check Titiane Seck and was once a backing vocalist for Salif Keita and others.
Her CD Electro Bamako (2002) with Marc Minelli put her on the map. She followed this with Yelema (2006) and Gagner l’argent français (2011), both produced with Nicolas Repac,
Tonight she plays from her new CD KANOU (World Village)
allowing her vocals to interweave with the the ngoni of virtuoso Moriba Koita and the guitar of Djeli Moussa Kouyaté of Bamako Rail Band fame.
Mamani Keïta, one of the leading vocalists of Mali has a new album titled Kanou (World Village) released in February 2014. Kanou means ‘to love’ in her native Bambara. The album features self-penned songs.
