Presented by The Anglo-Ethiopian Society. Putting Knowledge to Work: The Challenge for Ethiopia
Lecture by Dr Amare Desta
What is the role of new technologies and innovation in promoting sustainable development in low-income economies like Ethiopia? What are the strengths and weaknesses of the network links between governments, private sectors, universities, civil society and communities to promote innovations for sustainable development in Ethiopia? What is the role of foreign direct investment and development aid in knowledge transfer in tackling the challenges associated with science, technology, engineering and mathematics for inclusive innovations and sustainable development in Ethiopia? How far has social innovation and entrepreneurship put Ethiopia on track to meeting the Millennium Development Goals?
Dr Amare will be raising questions like these in his talk and will be suggesting how the way knowledge is exchanged can be improved to give a better future for individuals and societies in Ethiopia, and other developing countries.
