An open-air contemporary African dance performance as part of Festival of Love's Mandela Weekend.
Modern chants, ancestral voices and 67 dancers come together in a piece inspired by Nelson Mandela's message of love and reconciliation.
It is performed in and around the colourful and dramatic Festival of Love site installations along Riverside Terrace and Festival Terrace.
The dance was created by Zimbabwe-born Bawren Tavaziva with South African dancer Bafana Solomon Matea and performed by first-, second- and third-year dancers from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.
Bawren Tavaziva is Artistic Director of Tavaziva Dance, one of the UK's leading contemporary-African dance companies. He synthesises ballet, contemporary and African dance to create a powerful choreographic language. His most recent work was described by Afridiziak Theatre News as 'a contemporary African masterpiece'.
