NIGERIANS in Britain will be holding a gala night tagged the Nigerian Centenary Awards UK on Friday 27th July, during which they will celebrate the unique achievements of diasporas who have participated in British society over the last 100 years.
Since Nigeria formally became a part of the British Empire in 1914, Nigerians have been travelling to the UK to study, work and live. Over the last 100 years, Nigeria has produced 15 British mayors and numerous local government councilors and currently, three members of the UK House of Commons (MPs) are of Nigerian extraction. Invited guests inlcude Include Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, diplomats,Captains of industry, media personalities, celebrities and 100 distinguished Nigerian awardees in the UK. S
