NUMBI is back with a funky-intelle-techy night of futuristic rhythms, stunning performers and hot African diasporic vibrations. It’s a night of spoken word, film, live music and dance. Featuring a line-up of some of our most loved NUMBI resident artists and very special guests from the Caribbean and the US. The beautiful poets, writers and film makers Kendel Hippolyte, Davina Lee and Vladimir Lucien from St. Lucia will take your breathe away.
DJ Tillah Willah is a writer and trouble-maker by day and by night she weaves rhythms through music. Expect the spirit and vibrations of Carnival straight from Trinidad via Nigeria, from soca to afrobeat and everything in between.
DJ Lynnee Denise from LA is known for her eclectic mixes of classic hip-hop, soul, funk and deep house. She draws from black social and political movements to present the dynamic range of music of the diaspora.
This season Numbi is also proud to announce a collaboration with the Grand Union Orchestra. We are honoured to welcome to the stage for the first time singers Yasminah Mohamed aka YuniQ Soul and Ethiopian German Tsega Tebege. Nadia Al Faghih is a nomadic musician calling on ancestral roots of Arabic, Fulani, Nigerian, Turkish, Norwegian, Tynside, Celtic origins and Freddy Macha is a Tanzanian born writer and musician working with Kitoto Band in London.
The night will be hosted by Numbi Resident Artist and poet Elmi Ali. Plus make sure to catch the Numbi Arts trademark dance off competition and live Jam.
