The French Embassy to Ethiopia, the Alliance Ethio-Française of Addis Ababa and Dire Dawa and the French Center for Ethiopian Studies cordially invite you to the opening of the exhibition “ Re-discovering Dire Dawa “ followed by a roundtable Tuesday June 16th at 6 PM at the Alliance Ethio-Française gallery. Roundtable in English. Free entrance.
This exhibition intends to (re)discover Dire Dawa, the railway city of Oriental Ethiopia, through the presentation of the City-Guide produced in 2013 by the French Centre for Ethiopian Studies (Cfee) and funded by the tourism development project implemented by the Regional Administration of Dire Dawa with the support of the French Embassy to Ethiopia.
Along the panels introducing the several itineraries illustrated by Nicolas Deleau’s watercolours, this visual presentation of the City-Guide provides a both sensitive and practical invitation to travel across Dire Dawa’s historical neighbourhoods.
The inauguration of this exhibition on Alliance Ethio-Française is followed by a roundtable with several stakeholders of the project , academics, architects and urban experts – around the challenges of urban development policies and architectural heritage conservation in Ethiopian towns.
