The Burkina Faso citizen Louis Salif Kiekieta, aka Smarty is a former member of the rap/hip-hop duo Yeleen. Over a period of 10 years, Smarty and Mawndoé have released five records and earned a Kora Awards nomination and the 2007 Kundé d’or prize.
Smarty has been working in Ouagadougou where he embarked on a solo career. His solo album, Afrikan Kouleurs, features high profile collaborations with artists such as Tiken Jah Fakoly and Soprano. Conscious hip-hop artist Smarty confronts modern rhythms with traditional instruments in his music and is the winner of RFI Discoveries Award 2013.
