Chair: Dr Siham Riyale
The Southbank Centre is one of Britain’s leading art institutions. As a prominent space for artists to meet and perform, it’s the perfect venue for Somali Week Festival’s thematic focus on creative, artistic and innovative space. This launch will bring the best of Somali arts to the heart of the capital, and to a diverse multicultural audience. H.M. Ambassador Harriet Mathews will officially launch the 2015 Somali Week Festival, and Dr Cawo Abdi, Associate Professor of sociology at the University of Minnesota and a Research Associate at the University Of Pretoria, South Africa and archaeologist Sada Mire will discuss the theme of the year.
This will be followed by a poetry reading by Ladan Osman, a short comedy sketch by Prince Abdi and a live performance from Mahamed BK.
Kayd Somali Arts and Culture, in collaboration with Redsea Cultural Foundation and other partners, are proud to present Somali Week Festival 2015. This year’s festival will run from October 23rd and November 1st in several London venues.
