U.S Embassy Launches 2015 Ethiopian Women’s Art Competition

As part of a series of public events to mark Women’s History Month, the U.S. Embassy in Addis Ababa has organized the 2015 Ethiopian Women’s Art Competition, open to professional women artists and women art students in Ethiopia. Ambassador Patricia M. Haslach officially launched the 2015 Ethiopian Women Art Competition today at the U.S. Embassy in the presence of invited guests and journalists. The competition will serve as an opportunity to highlight Ethiopian women artists and to inspire women and girls who have a passion and commitment

The competition will serve as an opportunity to highlight Ethiopian women artists and to inspire women and girls who have a passion and commitment for art. The semi-finalists and prize winning art work will be displayed at the U.S. Embassy and subsequently at a local art gallery in April, followed by a traveling show to the U.S. Embassy’s four American Corners in Bahar Dar, Dire Dawa, Harar and Jimma over the coming months.

The deadline for application is April 15, 2015.
