In 2005, film directors Marc and Nick Francis noticed Chinese workers building a road in the Ethiopian countryside. The brothers began to investigate China's growing presence in Africa, and their documentary film, 'When China Met Africa', was released in 2011.
Join us for a screening of this film, described as "a rare grass-roots view into one of the most important economic challenges of the age" (The Times). The screening will be followed by a discussion with the directors, and with Benny Dembitzer, a development economist who has worked in over 35 African countries.
In partnership with the Ming-Ai Association and UCL China Centre for Health and Humanity.
