WOMAD, World of Music, Arts and Dance, is an internationally established Festival bringing together artists from all over the globe. WOMAD continues to present music that we feel to be of excellence, passion and individuality, regardless of musical genre or geographical origin, to thousands of festival goers everywhere. As an organisation, WOMAD now works in many different ways, but our aims are always the same - at festivals, performance events, through recorded releases and through educational projects, we aim to excite, to inform, and to create awareness of the worth and potential of a multicultural society.
A Host of top African artists have been lined up to perform at this year’s Womad UK Festival 2014. Including Mulatu Astatke (Ethiopia), Aar Maanta (Somalia), Afrikan Boy (Nigeria), Amira Kheir (Italy, /Sudan), Bassekou Kouyate and Ngoni ba (Mali), (Senegal) Catrin Finch and Seckou Keita (Wales & Senegal), Debademba (Burkina Faso, Mali), Elemotho (Namibia), Fatoumata Diawara and Roberto Fonseca (Cuba & Mali), Ibibio Sound Machine (Nigeria), Imed Alibi, France, Tunisia), Justin Vali and Ny Malagasy Orkestra (Madagascar), Les Ambassadeurs (Mali ), Manu Dibango (Cameroon), Nuru Kane (Senegal), Oliver Mutukudzi and The Black (Zimbabwe) , Siyaya (Zimbabwe), The Good Ones (Rwanda), The Good Ones (Rwanda), Dave Okumu & The Invisible with… and Youssou NDOUR et le Super Etoile (Senegal).
