Young Diplomats Presents “Thinking Out Loud” - 30.05.15

Young Diplomats is an Ethiopian youth-led nonprofit organization that focuses on empowering youth. Through different mentorship programs Young Diplomats support different aspects of a person’s life such as health, capacity building, culture, education, etc. We want to develop leaders by connecting young people to role models, providing resources for their needs and creating positive, friendly spaces. Young Diplomats is focused on giving youth a voice as well as equipping them with resources and development skills that will lead them to their personal success.

This event is a parent-youth event that speaks about the stumbling blocks Ethiopian-Canadian families face within their homes and how it affects their mental health. This event is intended to be the bridge for issues such as lack of communication, language barriers and other issues that youth have collectively felt were important to talk about. The event is both entertainment and educational – youth acting out skits, etc. to portray their image of their home life (all in good fun) as well as guest speakers and presentations about mental health.
